Samuel J. Puckett

sam96-year-old Fairfield resident, Samuel J. Puckett died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, April 17 at his home.  A U.S. Army veteran of WW II, he operated Keen-Norris Wallpaper & Paint Store, served as mayor of Fairfield from 1969 – 1983 and was named Citizen of the Year in 1983. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairfield and the Fairfield Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Jim and wife Carolyn Puckett of Geff and Michael and wife Pamela Puckett of Jasonville, IN; two daughters, Jane and husband Dan Miller of Fairfield and Judith Puckett of Fairfield; 5 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Samuel J. Puckett will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW Post 4535 and American Legion Post 176.

Visitation will be 6 – 8 Wednesday evening, April 20 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to the Clay County Hospice and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield.
