100-year-old McLeansboro resident, Barrett Young died at 4:05 a.m. Monday, April 25 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He had been a bus driver and custodian for the Hamilton County Schools; had been a tank truck driver for Smithpeters Tank Truck Service in McLeansboro and had been a farm manager for Stelle Farms. He attended the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Dale and was a member of the First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
Survivors include two daughters, Leta Allardin of Dale, IL and Kim Price and husband Randy of McLeansboro; a son, Joe Young and wife Georgia of Clarksville, IN; a step-son, John Fields and wife Jan of Glen Ellyn, IL; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Barrett Young will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 28 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with burial at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at McLeansboro.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, April 28 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
