DEAN BAKER 2Ronald Dean Baker, 82, of Carmi died Saturday, July 16 at Carmi Manor Nursing and Rehab. Dean grew up in the area of his father’s business, Baker’s Garage which is a well-known landmark west of Grayville, Illinois.  By working in his father’s shop, he became a talented fabricator and welder.  He also started out farming for a short time with his brother-in-law, Mervin Burroughs and later farmed on his own until his own retirement in 1999.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carmi, and was very active in missions work through the Oriental Mission Society and Men for Missions.  He also served in the United States Army in Korea between the Korean War and Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara Baker of Carmi; sons Mike (Debbie) Baker of West Salem, Illinois, Barry (Angela) Baker of Carmi; daughter Sondra (Troy) Reisner of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; brother Ken (Marge) Baker of Shawneetown, Illinois; sister Linda (Steve) Clay of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren Dan Baker, Shane (Misty) Baker, Dylan (Taylor) Baker, Makenzie Baker, Anna Reisner, Ryan Reisner; great grandchildren Nova Baker and Daxton Baker.

Funeral services for Ronald Dean Baker will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20 at the Cook Chapel in Carmi with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.

Visitation will be from 5-8 pm, Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.

Memorials may be made to Men for Missions, Baptist Children’s Home or Celtic Hospice and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.
