James Michael “Jim” Greathouse, West Salem

Greathouse OBIT PicJames Michael “Jim” Greathouse, 69, of West Salem, passed away on Thursday, August 11, at his home surrounded by his family.  He was a farmer all of his life, and owned and operated Farmers Packing for several years. Jim also worked in the oil fields, and was a lifelong member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of West Salem; three sons: Mike (JoAnne) Greathouse, Kenny (Tami) Greathouse, and Chet (Niki) Greathouse, all of West Salem; ten grandchildren: Amanda (Mike) Bunting, Sara (Jake) Reid, Tyli Greathouse, Shali (Chris Campbell) Greathouse, Emily (Jeffrey) Wallace; Charlton Greathouse, Ethan Greathouse, Wyatt Greathouse, Cody Greathouse, and Brook Greathouse; and four great-grandchildren: Justin Bunting, Brantley Campbell, Novalyn Greathouse, and Nolan Campbell. He is also survived by four sisters: Patricia (Allen) Yonaka of Parkersburg, Wanda (John) Fishel of West Salem, Debra (Jerry) Mason of West Salem, and Jane (Paul) Casaleggi of Mt. Carmel; and six brothers: Larry (Kathy) Greathouse of Albion, Steve (Rosie) Greathouse of Albion, Bill (Nancy) Greathouse of West Salem, David Greathouse of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, Donnie (Sherry) Greathouse of West Salem, and Richard (Jennifer) Greathouse of Oblong, Illinois.

Funeral service for James Michael “Jim” Greathouse will be Monday, August 15, at 11 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem, with burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, Samsville. Visitation will be Sunday, August 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
