Mary Lou Beuligmann – Mt. Carmel

ThumbnailMary Lou Beuligmann, 90, of Mount Carmel passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Wabash General Hospital. Mary Lou was a lifelong resident of Mount Carmel. She was a 1943 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. She became a Registered Nurse after graduating from Evansville St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1946. Mary Lou made a career in nursing having worked at Wabash General Hospital for forty years, several of which she was Director of Nurses. She then added another ten years of service at Oakview Heights Nursing Home.  Mary Lou was one of the original founders of the girls’ softball league in Mount Carmel. During the local Sesquicentennial Celebration, she was given the title of Honorary Mayor. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Daughters of Isabella.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include children, Maria (Rod) Paille, Michael (Judy) Beuligmann, Gregory (Tracy) Beuligmann, Martha (Bob) Alka, Margaret (Joe) Dougherty and Jean Lockhart; grandchildren, Rita Miller, Danielle Carwile, Lori Ferreira, Christopher Beuligmann, Matthew Beuligmann, Amy Price, Daniel Hall, Patrick Beuligmann, Jodi McMahel, Jared Alka, Jenna Alka, Emily Griffith, Ryan Dougherty, Clint Dougherty, Sabrina Waldroup, Alex Lockhart and Marissa Lockhart; twenty nine great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Loekle; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A Prayer Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. following Visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Lou’s memory to St. Mary’s School, 427 Chestnut St. Mt. Carmel, IL 62863. Envelopes will be at the Church or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
