Donald Gene Braddy – Bluford

braddyDonald Gene Braddy, 82, of Bluford died at 6:00 P.M. Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Lavender Ridge in Mount Vernon, Illinois.  Don was a veteran of  the United States Air Force from 1954-1958 as a Radar Operator in Germany. He then served from 1958-1962 in the Reserves. Don was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bluford. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Donald is survived by his wife, Emma Jane Braddy of Bluford, Illinois; daughters, Tracy DeJournett and her husband, David of Bluford, Illinois and Deidre Huston and her husband, Michael of Bluford, Illinois; son, Brad Braddy and wife, Darrin of Merritt Island, Florida; grandchildren, Aubrey (DeJournett) Johnson and her husband Larry “Spud”, Devon DeJournett and his wife, Jennifer, Ashley (Huston) Raney and her husband, Chris, and Cal Braddy; nine great-grandchildren; and his aunts, Betty Vibbard of Knoxville, Tennessee and Beverly Adams of Bluford, Illinois.

Funeral services for Donald Gene Braddy will be 1 p.m. on Friday, January 6 at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #141 of Mount Vernon at the graveside.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
