Philip E. Orr – Grayville

Philip Eugene Orr was born September 2, 1949, in Olney, Illinois, the son of James L. and Emma C. Orr of Grayville.  He died on February 26, 2017, at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and the University of Illinois Champaign with post-graduate degrees in History and Library Science.

He was recently retired from the David L. Rice Library as Distance Learning Librarian for University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana, where he received the Indiana Library Federation Leadership Award in 2009.  He was actively involved in church serving as an elder and Sunday school teacher at Browns Christian Church.  He also led a Bible study of campus at U.S.I.  He served on the board of the Christian Campus Ministry in Carbondale, as well.

Philip is survived by siblings Nancy (Michael) Adams of Killeen, Texas; Mary (Jeff) Weber of Manteno, Illinois; Robert (Pam) Orr of Albion, Illinois; Carol (Glenn) Jackson of Mount Erie, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Philip Eugene Orr will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4 at the Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-9 pm, Friday, March 3, 2017, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville.
