80 year-old Charles F. McKibben of Fairfield passed away at 1:30 PM, Friday, March 10, 2017 at Way-Fair. Charles worked at Champion Laboratories in Albion before retiring in 2000. He was previously employed at All-Steel in Aurora, IL before returning to Fairfield where he also did carpentry work, worked at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, and North Side Grade School as a bus driver. Charles volunteered as a coach during his lifetime, helped with various youth programs and was a member of the Civil Defense Team.
Survivors include his wife Shirley of 60+ years, daughter Cindy (Rick) Simmons of Salem, IL, son Bruce (Debbie) McKibben of Fairfield, grandsons Tyler Simmons of Vincennes, IN, Jared Simmons of St. Louis, MO and fiancée Sarah Gardner of Alma, IL , granddaughters Julie (Jonathon) Garrett of Flora, IL, and Emily McKibben of Fairfield and fiancé Lincoln Taylor of Palatine, IL. Other survivors include brothers Earl and Carl McKibben of Fairfield, and Larry (Deloris) McKibben of Ocala, FL and sister Betty Dye of Urbana, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, March 14 at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. Bennie Tomberlin officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of service. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in his honor may be made to Celtic Hospice or the First Baptist Church of Fairfield.
