74-year-old Fairfield native, Ervin Ray Simpson died at his home in Merkel Texas. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he had been a truck driver, retiring after 32 years as a Teamsters Union member.
Survivors include his wife Mary Simpson; children Katherine and Greg Jones of Island Lake, Ill and their children, Matthew, Chance and Drake; Elizabeth Anderson of Indianapolis and her children, Riley and Sophie; Janelle and Jesse Novak of Kewanee, Ill. and their children, Victoria, Natalie and Brayden; Adam and Jennifer Simpson of West Lebanon, Ind. and their children, Abigail and Ashlynn and Amanda and Rick Owen of Bone Gap and their children, Tristan and Torrence; siblings William and Madaline Simpson, Eleanor Venable, Evelyn and Carl Byrge, KD and Shirley Simpson, Mary Ruth and Larry Smith, Karen Singleterry, Trudy and Victor Simpson, Lester Simpson and Diana West.
Ervin’s remains have been cremated. Graveside services will be 12 noon Saturday, March 25 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield with military honors.
An informal Celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday, March 25 from 1 – 4 at the Lebanon North CP Church near Fairfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
