87-year-old McLeansboro resident, Joan B. Johnson died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, March 16 at Hamilton Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in McLeansboro. She had been a school teacher and was employed by the Hamilton County Schools for many years. She attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
Survivors include a daughter, Victoria J. White and husband Tom of Des Plaines, Ill; a son, Edgar Wayne Johnson, Jr. of China; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Allen Barker and wife Elaine of Amherst, Massachusetts.
A private family burial of ashes will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the local animal shelter and will be accepted at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is in charge of all of the arrangements.
