64-year-old Fairfield resident, Joseph Michael Pierce died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 18 at his home. He had been a coal miner, working at the Freeman No. 6 mine at Waltonville. He was a Christian by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Pierce of Fairfield; a son, Richard Edward Pierce and wife Ashley of Shreveport, LA; two daughters, Tanya Jo Guitron and husband Louie of Walnut, MS and Sarah Ann Johnson and husband Willie of Fairfield; a brother-in-law, Larry Gene Taylor and wife Tracy of Ashland, MS; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Hood and husband Jimmy of Mineola, TX, Jane Musselwhite and husband Jerry of Mineola, TX and Vickie Pierce and husband Glen of Mineola, TX. Six grandchildren also survive.
The body is to be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
