Bette Louise Carlton – Formerly of McLeansboro

90-year-old former McLeansboro resident, Bette Louise Carlton of Carmi died at 7:38 a.m. Tuesday, April 24 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi.  A member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in McLeansboro, she had worked as a telephone operator, worked at the dress and shirt factory of McLeansboro, was a farm wife for many years, a seamstress, gardener and caretaker.

Survivors include a daughter, June Accord and husband Joe of Carmi; a grandson, Cliffton Acord and wife Ashley of Carmi; a brother, Bill and wife Phyllis Barnfield of Benton; a sister-in-law, Carmen Barnfield of Benton and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Bette Louise Carlton will be 4 p.m. Friday, April 27 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 27 until the time of service at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Memorials may be made to the Wabash Christian Village Chapel or the Wabash Christian Village Center and will be accepted at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
