There will be a benefit for Caleb Masterson on Sunday, May 24th at 6pm at Kings Chapel Church, North on First Street.  There will be gospel singers including, Rodney Masterson, Hallam Trio, Sam Harrison & Kenny Jackson and Rachel Thomason.  Everyone is welcome!!

 

Monday, May 25th

Fairfield American Legion Baseball team tryouts will be held tonight at 6 p.m. at Lakeside Park in Fairfield.  If you have questions you can call Collin Dunn at (618) 599-7754.

 

 Tuesday, May 26th

The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and the Beautification Committee are co-sponsoring the Pretty Up Your Porch Contest. There will be three categories, Large Porch, Small Porch, and Stoop.  Judging will take place on Friday, June 19th.  Prize for each category will be Chamber Bucks.  This is for residences that are in the city-limits of Fairfield.  Winners will be announced on June 20th.  There will also be a People’s Choice Award.  All nominees will have a picture of their porch or stoop on the Chamber’s Facebook page and the porch or stoop with the most ‘likes’ will win the People’s Choice Award.  Serendipity Card and Gifts is providing the prize for this award.  You may call in nominations to the Fairfield Chamber office at 842-6116 or email at chamber@fairfieldwireless.net.

Saturday, May 30th

May Lodge No. 718, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons will be having a Community Fish Fry Dinner, with all of the trimmings, on Saturday, May 30, at their Lodge Hall, at 208 East Wabash Street, Norris City, IL (behind the post office and next door to the Wonder Market).  The Fish FRY will start at 5 P.M.  Carry outs will be available.  Cost is by donation.  Please come eat, visit and tour the new Lodge Hall.

You’re invited to the Fairfield Floral Hall Vendor Craft Show on Saturday, May 30th from 9am to 3pm.  There will be tons of well known vendors on site as well as various crafters.  All proceeds from donations and silent auction will go to the family of London Fryman.

There will be a fundraiser on Saturday May 30th, for the Cuff Wresting team.  The cook out will take place from  9:00am to 1:00pm at the Wayne County Courthouse.  They will be serving Pork burgers and Pork chops.  Proceeds go for travel to tournaments, new uniforms, tournament fees, and building rental.  Everyone is welcome!

Danny’s Pool Room will once again host a Poker Run to benefit The Guardian Center for its work on behalf of abused children.  On May 30th, the Poker Run will be held for motorcyclists (cars and trucks are welcome as well), who will enjoy a free breakfast, BBQ dinner at the , prizes and raffles.  The Ride will begin with registration from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Danny’s Pool Room, where the route will begin and include stops at the Oasis in Ridgway, the New Haven Legion, the Mt. Vernon Legion, and Chappy’s in Grayville.

 

Thursday, June 4th

Senior Life Solutions of Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be hosting its women’s Coffee Club at the Kontiki on June 4th and June 18th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided. Everyone is invited to come out and socialize and meet new people.

Friday, June 5th

The Food Pantry at the Golden Gate United Methodist Church will be held on Friday, June 5th from 10am to Noon.  Anyone needing food is welcome.  For more information, call 618-599-5178.

Saturday, June 13th

Fairfield Town-wide Rummage Sale will be Saturday, June 13th.  Maps will be available again this year.  You may list your address on the map for $5.  If you would like to have your yard sale listed on the map, then contact the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce by June 1st at 121 E. Main St, Fairfield.  Rain date will be Saturday, June 20th.
