 Friday, July 3rd

The Food Pantry at the Golden Gate United Methodist Church will take place on Friday, July 3rd from 10am to 12 Noon.  Anyone in need of food is welcome!

There will be a free breakfast for supper on Friday, July 3rd,  from 6pm until 8pm at Enfield RHCC.   Enfield RHCC is located at 408 N Wilson Street in Enfield.  There will also be a special surprise for the first 1776 customers.  Everyone is invited!!

On Friday, July 3rd, @ 7:00pm, there will be a prayer circle and balloon launch for Megan. It will have been one year since the evening of her disappearance. This will be held at the outside pavilion at First Baptist Church of Fairfield. Everyone is invited to attend. God hears our prayers, and we are not giving up hope that Megan will return home.

AGS Softball tryouts will be held on July 21st, 22nd and 23rd from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Wayne Pollard Softball Field.  YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT SPORTS PHYSICAL TO TRY OUT.  Any Conflicts/Concerns call 445-2327 or 445-7845.

Wayne County Golf Course volunteers will be grilling pork burgers and sausages Friday, July 3rd on Main Street in front of the Wayne County courthouse during lunch time.  Proceeds will help fund ongoing course improvements.

 

Sunday, July 5th

First Christian Church in Flora will be hosting the Mark Trammell Quartet on Sunday, July 5th.  Sunday Service begins at 9:30am followed by coffee and donuts at 10:15.  Then doors will open at 10:30 with the Mark Trammell Quartet Concert beginning at 10:45.  If you would like more information about the Mark Trammell Quartet go to their website at MarkTrammellQuartet.com.  Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the morning!

 

Tuesday, July 7th

Tuesday, July 7th from 3-6pm, Aerotek will have representatives onsite to accept job applications at the Workforce Development Center, Rooms 31 & 32 (will have signs to point in the right direction) in Fairfield, Illinois.

Wednesday, July 8th

Community of Christ Blood Drive  Donorama will be held on Wednesday, July 8th, from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm at Community of Christ Church on Windsor Lane in Fairfield.  This is the summer donorama with pork burgers, chips, coleslaw, and homemade desserts to all presenting donors!  All donors will be entered in a drawing for 2 – $50.00 Visa gift cards.  Appointments can be scheduled by calling Diane Vaughan @ 618-838-9873

There will be a Spaghetti Fund Raiser for Darach and C.J. McInnis on Wednesday, July 8th from 4 to 7pm at The Buckshot Grill in Cisne.  These boys are state finalists in the Bareback Bronc Riding competition and the fund raiser is to help with the costs associated with traveling to the state tournament.  The menu will consist of spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, drink and dessert.  Donations are also appreciated.  Call the Buckshot Grill if you have any questions at 618-673-3010.

Senior Life Solutions of Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be hosting its women’s Coffee Club at the Fairfield Kontiki on July 9th and 23rd from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided. Everyone is invited to come out, socialize and meet new people.

Saturday, July 11th

Wayne County Golf Course will host the Dr. Patrick Molt Open tournament Saturday July 11th. Lunch and Registration will begin at 11 am followed by a shotgun tee-off at 1 p.m. Entry fee, which includes lunch and cart, is $25 for members and $40 for guests and non-members. Cash prizes will be awarded to individuals for lowest 18 hole score in two divisions: gross and net, which is based on course handicap. Men’s league players without an established USGA handicap are eligible based on their most recent men’s league handicap. Prize payouts and age divisions will be based on total participation. Players can sign up at the pro-shop bulletin board or by mail-in entry form available on waynecountygolf.com.

Let’s examine the beetle behind the small flashing lights that appear and disappear throughout the dark summer nights. It is apparent how this insect got its name, but how and why do they produce a glow? Learn the answer to this question and discover many other fascinating firefly facts during a presentation at Beall Woods State Park on Saturday, July 11th at 8:30pm. Please meet at the Visitor Center. Flashlights will be provided for outdoor activities, but don’t forget mosquito repellent. If you have any questions, call 618-298-2441.

 

Sunday, July 12th

Pastor, Don Mobley and members of Ridge Baptist Church, located three and one half miles west of Grayville, IL would like to extend an invitation to their Annual Homecoming on Sunday, July 12th. Services include Sunday School 9:30, Worship 10:30, Noon Meal and Special Music Service at 1:30 featuring Darrell and Brenda Marshall from Nashville, TN. Everyone welcome!

The 13th Annual Plainfield Church Car Show is scheduled for Sunday, July 12th at Plainfield Church. Cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, jeeps and special interests are welcome. Registrations will be accepted that day from 9:00am-12:00pm with a $10.00 entry fee. There will be a Mill Shoal Ruritan Fish Fry at the Mill Shoals Ruritan Building on Friday, July 17th from 4 to 7pm.  The menu will consist of fried fish, river potatoes, cole slaw, baked beans, hushpuppies, coffee and tea.  Cost is by donation.

Friday, July 24th

There will be a FEMA Pre-Disaster Mitigation Planning Meeting and your presence is requested.  This will be the second meeting of the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Planning Team to be held on Friday, July 24th, at 1:30 pm in the  Bob Boyles Hall at Frontier Community College at the corner of Highway 45 and Frontier Drive in Fairfield, IL.  Early this year, Wayne County was awarded a grant to create a Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan or PDMP. The PDMP serves a guide for the County and will be put into place to help reduce the overall risk to people and structures caused by disasters. Please plan to attend this meeting. Saturday, July 25th

Do you own a tractor? If so, make plans to participate in the 2015 Edwards County Tractor Drive on Saturday, July 25th,  as well as, the Edwards County Fair Car, Truck, and Tractor Show.
The 2015 tractor drive will start and end at the Edwards County Square in Albion, leaving around 1:00pm or at the conclusion of the Edwards County Fair Car, Truck, and Tractor Show. The tractor drive is open to all makes and models of tractors, as long as they can travel at least 10 miles per hour. New and old tractors both are encouraged to come and participate. The route is around 30 miles in length and will cover parts of the Southern parts of Edwards County.
Registration for the tractor drive is $30 a tractor and includes a hat and dinner at the conclusion of the ride. Preregistration is strongly encouraged.  The tractor drive is sponsored by the Edwards County Farm Bureau Young Leaders. For more information and a registration form, contact the Farm Bureau office at 445-2213 or edwardscfb@fairfieldwireless.net.  Prior to the tractor drive, the 2nd Annual Edwards County Fair Car, Truck, and Tractor show will take place on the Albion square. Registration takes place starting at 8am. Awards will be handed out at 1pm. To participate, just drive or bring your car, truck, or tractor to the square. These events are part of opening day of the Edwards County Fair, and are held in conjunction with the Edwards County Fair Parade.  The Albion square is located at the intersection of Illinois Route 130 and Illinois Route 15. Mark your calendars and make plans to spend the day in Albion, Illinois!

 

Saturday, August 1st

The United Way of Southern Illinois will be having their Glow Run 5K on Saturday, August 1st, at Rend Lake College in
Ina, Illinois.  You can pick up your packets at 7pm and the race will begin at 9pm.  If you would like to participate, come and register….if you are not a runner come out and watch and help support the United Way of Southern Illinois.

Johnsonville Grade School Reunion, for Classes Of 65, 66, 67, 68, 69 & CLASS OF 70 will be held on Sunday, August 9th.  If you Graduated from there or were in those Grade School Classes and moved— plan to COME!!  The reunion will be held at the Johnsonville Ruitan Bulding from 1 to 4pm . Mark your calendars and plan to come, for a good time of visiting!!!! Bring finger foods and Lawn chairs.
