Friday, September 19th
Carmi Family Dental will host their 2nd Annual Dentistry from the Heart event providing a free day of dental care to more than 100 residents. The line will begin as early as the night before, with hundreds prepared to camp out in order to receive free services. Carmi Dental is located at 1000 West Main Street in Carmi, Illinois. Saturday, September 20th
It’s theXenia First Anual Ranch Rodeo on Saturday, September 20th at 1pm at Xenia Park located behind the grade school. There will be team sorting, trailer loading, team mugging, team doctoring plus much much more! All kids are invited to participate in the stick horse races, calf scramble, pony express sack races and more. Kids events begin at 12:15. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for kids 5 through 12 and kids 4 and under are free. Concessions will be available and serving will begin at 11am. They will be selling pork loin sandwiches, brats, hot dogs, chili, chips, drinks, desserts and Ted Drew’s ice cream. Free prizes, auction items…Fun for all ages!!
There will be a benefit supper Saturday, September 20, for the Luke Hilliard family of Geff. The Hilliard’s recently lost their home to fire. Menu will include Chicken or Beef and Noodle dinner, dessert and drinks. The event will take place at the Geff Ruritan building and serving starts at 5:00pm. Carry-outs are available.
The Cowling Community Center will hold their Annual Chicken and Noodle Dinner on Saturday, September 20th from 4-7pm. The cost is $8.00 and that will include, homemade chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, cranberry salad, roll, dessert and beverage. All money raised goes to benefit club projects.
Saturday, September 20th will be the next Hope Center, “Feed the Family”. Their will be lots of food, clothes, furniture,carpet and misc. items to give away. The start time will be around 9am. The Hope Center is located at 23 West Cherry in Albion. The House of Prayer will be assisting and giving the “Message of Hope”. This program is for people that live in Edwards, Wabash, White and Wayne Counties. If anyone would like to donate RAMEN noodles or shoes and boots that would be great. The 2014 Wayne City Bean Days will begin on Saturday, September 20th with the crowning of the Bean Queen, then Saturday, September 27th will be the parade, flea markets, ham and beans and many other fun activities. The event will conclude with an All Class Reunion on Sunday, September 28th.
Sunday, September 21st
Old Village Cumberland Presbyterian Church will celebrate their 195th anniversary on Sunday, September 21st with regular morning services starting at 9:30am. covered dish lunch at noon, then a special program of music beginning at 1pm with the Varner Family. Everyone is welcome to attend!
Homecoming at the Round Prairie General Baptist Church will take place on Sunday, Sept. 21. Sunday School begins at 9:30 am with morning worship at 10:30am…John Ed Watkins, speaking. A carry in dinner will be held at noon. The afternoon program will begin at 1:30, with John Ed and Donna Watkins, from Tennessee, singing. The church is located at 842 Co. Rd. 1375 N, Cisne. Stephen Watkins is the pastor. Everyone welcome.
Monday, September 22nd
The next FCHS Mulebacker meeting is scheduled for 5:30 PM Monday, September 22 in the FCHS cafeteria. All parents of FCHS students are welcome to attend.
The Fairfield Public School District #112 along with Jasper, new Hope, and Geff School Districts are conducting a preschool round-up for three to five year old children not yet enrolled in school. This screening program is free and parents will receive immediate feedback on how their child is developing. The preschool screening will be held at the First Christian Church on September 22nd, 2014. The screening procedure takes about 45 minutes and appointments must be made so that children do not have a long wait period. Thursday, September 25th
The West Salem Development Association is seeking vendors for its 6th Annual Harvest Fest on the Square. It will be held Saturday, October 25 from 8 to 2 p.m. on the West Salem Square. Vendors of antiques, crafts and other products and merchandise are invited to rent a booth. Booths, 10’x10’, are available for $20 and electricity is available. Food vendors with trailers are welcome, and spots on the Square may be reserved for $30. Ed Waid and Nashville North band will be hosting an old time sock hop on Sept 25th at the Kon-Tiki (211 SE 2nd St) in Fairfield,Il. Everyone dress up in rolled up jeans and poodle skirts and hit the floor with some old rock and roll. $5 admission at the door
Senior Life Solutions of Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be hosting its women’s Coffee Club at the Fairfield Kontiki on September 25th from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Coffee and donuts will be provided. Everyone is invited to come out and socialize and meet new people.

The Annual Bean Days Rodeo and Wayne City Saddle Club are proud to present…the Wooten Rodeo Company on September 26th and 27th at 7:30pm. This is an IPRA sanctioned rodeo which promises to be competitive and exciting. There will be bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, calf roping and breakaway roping. Admission will be $8 per person and kids 6 and under are free. Come out and ride the mechanical bull!! Just 3 miles South of Wayne City or 3 miles North of I-64 from exit 100.
There will be a Prom/Homecoming/Pageant dress sale in conjunction with Wayne City Bean Days on Saturday, September 27th from 12 to 4 at First Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Wayne City (next to Citgo). There will be no entry fee or commission charged for the dresses. The dresses must be on a hanger and can be dropped off either Friday, September 26th 5:30pm to 7:30pm or Saturday, September 27th 8am to 9am. Dresses that do not sale need to be picked up Saturday, September 27th 4pm to 6pm unless other arrangements are made. Fitting rooms will be available. Fairfield Memorial Hospital and Frontier Community College will be sponsoring a “Run for your life 5K,” to be held on Saturday, October 11. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Medical Arts Complex with the course leading to Frontier Community College Campus and then back to FMH. Registration forms can be picked up at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, Frontier Community College, or by printing them off either organization’s websites: http://www.iecc.edu/adulted/contedu.html and www.fairfieldmemorial.org. The registration fee is $15, and forms and fees (checks made payable to FCC) can be sent to Frontier Community College Attn: 5K Run/Walk, #2 Frontier Drive, Fairfield, IL 62837. Early registration is encouraged to allow ample time to order free t-shirts for all participants. On-site late registration will be available the morning of the race until 7:45 a.m.; however, the t-shirt in the proper size is not guaranteed. The Loose Nut Motorcycle Club will hold their “Loose Nut Dual Sport Ride 2014″ and the event will take place at Ferne Clyff State Park on IL 37, in Goreville, IL on November 1st and 2nd starting at 7am. This is a self-guided dual sport motorcycle tour of southern Illinois and is not for profit event and everyone is welcome to take part.
