Tuesday, September 2nd

In honor of the Volley for the Cure game, FCHS will be hosting a “pink out” day on Tuesday, September 2nd.  Spirit beads and ribbons are also being sold to help raise money for the Volley for the Cure.  Make sure to wear pink on Tuesday to support this great cause.  Edwards County is hosting the annual Volley for the Cure game against Fairfield on September 2nd.

An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd, at St. Mary’s Hospital gymnasium in Centralia.  All blood types are needed.   Give the gift of life.  In the time it takes to donate blood, you can help save the lives of people in the Centralia community and across the country.  Please call 1800-red-cross or visit redcrossblood.org for more information or to make an appointment for donation.  Refreshments will be served.

 

Wednesday, September 3rd

“Come join us for another evening of food, fellowship and fun! On Wednesday, September 3rd, starting at 6:00 p.m., the Enfield Christian Church will again be hosting their monthly community dinner.  This month’s menu will include: pork burgers and hot dogs, sides, drinks and dessert!  All community members are more than welcome to attend, and we hope you can even bring a friend!  Don’t miss out on this wonderful event! Thursday, September 4th

Senior Life Solutions of Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be hosting its women’s Coffee Club at the Fairfield Kontiki on September 4th and September 25th from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  Coffee and donuts will be provided.  Everyone is invited to come out and socialize and meet new people.

Frontier Community College is hosting a Meet the Bobcats event on Thursday, September 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on campus.  The community is encouraged to attend the event with an opportunity to meet FCC’s first Bobcat athletes and FCC’s new president, Dr. Jay Edgren.   Entertainment will be provided by Tom Baker’s Mardi Gras Brass band featuring local musician Dean Mounts.  Attending guests can start setting up their lawn chairs at 5:30 p.m. with music starting at 6pm.  Frontier’s staff will serve complimentary ice cream, popcorn, and water.   Introductions and remarks will take place at 6:30 followed up with more music provided by the Mardi Gras Brass band.

Ed Waid and Nashville North Band will be playing at the Kon-Tiki in Fairfield (211 SE 2nd St) every Thursday night from 6:30-9:30. Potluck at 8:00. Door prize, 50/50 drawing, admission $5 at the door. Soft drinks available for purchase. Cash Prize drawing the 3rd Thursday every month. For more information call 618-842-9834.

 

Saturday, September 6th

Bible Grove ,IL Jamboree show will be  at Gym Bob’s on  Saturday, Sept. 6th  at 1 : 00 PM.  The show will feature Mike Porter & Marsha Banning with the Panther Creek Band.   Also featuring Samantha Krumreich & Christina Banning with   special guest Terry Cottrell.   Terry is a fantastic harmonic player from Danville IL.   Faith Welty is also a special guest. Everyone is encouraged to attend.  Admission is $7.

The Albion Grade School Softball Team will be hosting a pork chop / pork burger sale on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Albion Pagoda.  The grilling will be done by Leroy Moore.  Pork Chops will be sold for $4 and pork burgers for $2.  They will also be selling drinks and selling whole deserts for a donation.  The sale will start at 10:30 am and will end once the food is sold out.  Funds from this project will be used for improvements to the ECHS / AGS Softball field.

The Fairfield First Christian Church will be holding their Great Give-Away on Saturday, September 6 from 10 AM – 1 PM.  Available will be clothes of all sizes, shoes, toys, baby items, wallpaper, household goods, books, bedding, refreshments & more.  Come check out all they have to offer!!
Tuesday, September 9th

The monthly meeting of NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees) will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at DiMaggios in Fairfield.   All prospective members are encouraged to attend.  For more information, please call 618-847-2321.

The Fairfield Public School District #112 along with Jasper, new Hope, and Geff School Districts are conducting a preschool round-up for three to five year old children not yet enrolled in school.  This screening program is free and parents will receive immediate feedback on how their child is developing.  The preschool screening will be held at the First Christian Church on September 9th, 10th and September 22nd, 2014.  The screening procedure takes about 45 minutes and appointments must be made so that children do not have a long wait period.  Parents should call Tammy at 618-842-6501 to make an appointment or for more information.
Wednesday, September 10th
The next Fairfield Blood Drive will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, from 11:30 A.M. – 5:30 P.M. at Community of Christ Church located at 503 Windsor Lane in Fairfield, IL.  All blood types are needed.  Two $25.00 Wal-Mart gift cards will be given away.  All presenting donors who donate blood between September 1 – 30, 2014 will receive a coupon by email for a free haircut at participating Sport Clips locations.   Be a Hero….SAVE A LIFE….Donate Blood.

Friday, September 12th

Wayne County Family Enrichment will be hosting Story Hour at the Fairfield Public Library on Friday, September 12, 2014, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  This is a community event and is open to the public.  Wayne County Family Enrichment will be hosting Story Hour through June with support of materials from the Frontier Community College.  Families are invited to enjoy a story, take part in crafts and activities, sing songs, and take home a parent handout at each Story Hour.  If you have any questions about this event please contact our office at 618-842-4043.

Eastern Sky Ministries will be sponsoring a concert at the First Christian Church of Carmi on Friday, September 12th at 6pm. The concert will feature both Ken Turner and Valor III and The Dixie Melody Boys. A love offering will be received. Everyone is invited to come and be blessed. Moebius syndrome is an extremely rare congenital neurological disorder which is characterized by facial paralysis and the inability to move the eyes from side to side, moebius results from the under development of the 6th and 7th cranial nerves. Monday, September 15th

As part of their 78th consecutive year of touring the USA, Carson & Barnes Circus, the largest traveling big top tent circus in America will visit FAIRFIELD on September 15TH located at the WAYNE COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS – 1401 W. MAIN.  Show times are scheduled on MONDAY at 4:30 & 7:30 P.M. For the best value, fans should purchase their advance tickets from local outlets if available: Adult/$12, Child/$6; or at the gate on Circus Day, Adult/$16, Child/$10. Tickets can also be purchased online at the Circus website at www.BigTopShow.com. The 2014 Wayne City Bean Days will begin on Saturday, September 20th with the crowning of the Bean Queen, then Saturday, September 27th will be the parade, flea markets, ham and beans and many other fun activities.  The event will conclude with an All Class Reunion on Sunday, September 28th.

The Annual Bean Days Rodeo and Wayne City Saddle Club are proud to present…the Wooten Rodeo Company on September 26th and 27th at 7:30pm.  This is an IPRA sanctioned rodeo which promises to be competitive and exciting.  There will be bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, calf roping and breakaway roping.  Admission will be $8 per person and kids 6 and under are free.   Come out and ride the mechanical bull!!  Just 3 miles South of Wayne City or 3 miles North of I-64 from exit 100.

Saturday, September 27th
The 45th Annual Wayne City Bean Days Event will take place on  Saturday, September 27th with the Parade beginning at  10AM, FREE Ham and Beans at  11am, Flea market from 9-5, the Quilt show from 9-3, the Lions club train from 9-12, the Car show  & tractor show from 7-10pm,  live music from 10:30a-5pm, the Remote air show from 10:30a-1:30p, Bounce houses 11am, Firemans water fights 12:30, and Bingo from 4 to 630pm.  Lots of fun….everyone is invited!!!
