86-year-old Carmi resident, Clifton Gerald “Jerry” Ziegler died Sunday, June 8 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville. He partnered with Fred Ziegler and Marvin Hill of Crossville and owned Modern Gas in Grayville and Fairfield. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a lifetime member of the Carmi VFW Post 3851 and had served as Commander of the Carmi American Legion Post 224.
Survivors include a son, Perry (Becky) Ziegler; a daughter, Terry (Rick) Abel of Carmi; a brother, Fred Ziegler of Crossville; sisters, Lana Fay Edwards of Arkansas, Earlene Isles and Evelyn Pethel, both of Michigan; grandchildren, Michelle and Lani Thompson of N. Carolina, Clifton Gerald Ziegler, III and Shay and Scott Gilstrap, all of South Carolina, Marissa and Jared Wilson of Kentucky and five great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date under the direction of the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi.
Visitation will be 4 – 7 Wednesday evening, June 11 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
