92-year-old McLeansboro resident, Elbert “Bert” Teffertiller, died at 5:16 a.m. Thursday, April 10 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He entered the service in 1942, spending 3 1/2 years in the U.S. Army, 2 1/2 years of which were in the European Theatre during WW II. He was a self-employed businessman, owning several businesses throughout his career.
Surviving are a son, Alan (Kathy) Teffertiller of McLeansboro; one daughter, Ruth Trauffer of Powder Springs, GA; four granddaughters, Angela Graves (Don) of Memphis, TN, Sheri Smith (Steve) of Marietta, GA, Kara Harrison (Matthew) of Benton, IL and Katlyn Teffertiller of McLeansboro; one grandson, Eric Johnson (Erin) of Wawatosa, WI; six great-grandchildren, James and Audrey Graves, Stephen, Grant and Harper Smith, Will Johnson and Baby Harrison on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Elbert “Bert” Teffertiller will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery at McLeansboro, with graveside military rites by the American Legion Post #106 and Military Honors Team of Marion, IL.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
