103-year-old McLeansboro resident, Eli Hook died at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, July 17 at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center in McLeansboro. He had been a Sexton Foreman with the Anheuser Busch Railway in St. Louis. He taught Sunday School for 15 years at Blooming Grove Church; was a member of the Blooming Grove Church since 1970 and was a trustee for 27 years. He was a Past Life member of Polk Lodge 137 A.F. & A.M. for 44 years and Past Master and member of Scottish Rite Bodies of Belleville, Ainad Shriners of Ainad Temple of E. St. Louis.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hook of McLeansboro; two sons, Eli Hook, Jr. and wife Joyce of McLeansboro; and Ralph and wife Verna of Granite City, IL; a daughter, Janet Lientz and husband Monte of Terre Houte, IN; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Eli Hook will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at the Blooming Grove Baptist Church with burial in Blooming Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19 until the time of service at the church.
