Gary Markman  IIGary A. Markman, Sr., 72 of Albion died on Monday, April 29, 2013 at his residence.  He graduated in 1958 from Edwards County High School. He served 8 years in the US Air Force, served on Air Force One for President Johnson for 3 years. After his enlistment was up, he purchased the house and garage which he called Markmans garage then later Markmans Auto Parts in 1969 which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2011.  He was a member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness at Mt. Carmel.

Survivors include his wife; Linda of Albion, son; Gary (Jolene) Markman of Albion, IL , 3 sisters; Glenna (Bill) Teitsort of Redding, CA, Linda (Robert) Caldwell of Albion, IL, Judy (Garrel) Knight of Albion, IL, 3 brothers; Bill (Susan) Markman , of Albion, IL, Bob (Anita) Markman, of Albion, IL, Jim (Cathy) Markman of Albion, IL 4 grandchildren; Brianna Markman of Carbondale, IL, Deidre Markman of Olney, IL, Jamilyn Markman of Albion, IL, Roy Markman of Albion, IL, 1 great-grandchild; Willow Westbrook and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Gary A. Markman will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 2 at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion with burial in Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 Wednesday, May 1 at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, with burial will be in Graceland cemetery in Albion, IL.

Gary served his country, however due to his religious convictions there will be no military rites at the graveside.

Memorials may be made to Roy Markman College Fund and will be accepted at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.
