66-year-old rural Mt. Carmel, IL resident, Gary Ray Hocking, died Wednesday, August 14 at his home. He was a farmer and oil businessman in the Keensburg area. The family oil business is known as HHH & K Oil Company. He also bred, trained and drove standardbred race horses.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Connie Sue (Fewkes); one son, Gary Scott Hocking of Mt. Carmel, IL; one daughter, Susan Sumner of Gifford, IL; three grandchildren and one step-grandson; one sister, Sherry Kieffer of rural Mt. Carmel, IL; one brother, Larry of rural Mt. Carmel, IL; several nieces and nephews, and special life-long friends Dan and Judy Bosecker and family of Ellery.
Funeral services for Gary Ray Hocking will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 19 at the Chapel of Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, IL. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, August 18 at the Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, IL.
