90-year-old Kingsland, Texas resident, George Edward Book died Friday, March 28.  A veteran of WW II, he served as an Illinois State Police Trooper from 1947 until 1950 when the oil company that his wife Grace and his brother, John Book worked for expanded to west Texas.  He worked as the network relay foreman for West Texas Utilities until 1967.

Survivors include sons, Kent Book and Kent Yates; daughters, Brenda Spyridon, Janelle and Diana Yates; sisters, Shirley Bell, Katie Black and Martha Phillips; all of Fairfield; a brother, Jim Book of Batavia, IL; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for George Edward Book will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1 at the Putman Funeral Home in Kingsland, TX

Visitation for George Edward Book will be1:00 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday April 1, 2014 at Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland, Texas.

A local visitation at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield will be Friday evening, April 4 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m.

Graveside services with military honors will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at Maple Hill Cemetery.
