Uniformed agents of the Illinois Attorney General’s office arrested a Fairfield man Thursday on charges he was in possession of child pornography. Randy C. King, 59 of Sibley Street in Fairfield was arrested as part of the Attorney General’s Operation Glass House initiative. Agents executed a search warrant at King’s home around 6 a.m. Thursday and seized numerous computers and related hardware. King was taken into custody later at his place of employment in Albion and booked into the Wayne County jail. An official with the Illinois Attorney General’s office said formal charges and setting of bond won’t be filed in Wayne County circuit court until Monday.
29-year-old Chance W. Young of Fairfield has been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on charges he was in possession of stolen firearms. Young allegedly was in possession of guns taken in a June 30 residential burglary in Wayne County.
The 3-year-old brother of stabbing victim Willow Long of Watson has been taken into protective custody by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Long’s uncle, 22-year-old Justin DeRyke has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Willow’s death. DCFS officials say they are also investigating Willow Long’s mother, Ciara DeRyke.
The Wayne County Board has approved a liquor license for Kim Heisner of Fairfield. Heisner is purchasing the former Wilson Package Liquor Store at the north edge of Cisne. The name will change, but the location will remain the same.
Johannes Construction Company of Centralia has been awarded a contract to build a security entrance to the north side of the Wayne County courthouse. The project will cost an estimated $310,000.
The Fairfield Fall Fun Fest continues this evening. Tonight’s activities include a performance by Jenna Jackley at 6:30 and the Rockaboogie Band at 7:30. The festival continues through Saturday.
