Fairfield Mayor Charles Griswold is the keynote speaker for the annual Memorial Day Observance at Maple Hill Cemetery. The service is set for 11 a.m. this morning at the Veterans Section of Maple Hill.  Wayne City’s Memorial Day observance will be at 2 p.m. today at Thomason Cemetery.

Fairfield Printing and Graphics and Dr. Steven A. Miller’s Advanced Healthcare offices have moved into their new headquarters in the industrial park on Fairfield’s west side.  The move was planned over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The El Mexicano Restaurant is expected to move into the complex soon.

42-year-old Dana L. Perry of Fairfield was arrested Sunday on charges of burglary to a motor vehicle and theft.  Perry is accused of entering cars on the Fairfield Wal-Mart parking lot, stealing phone chargers and other items. City Police identified Perry as their suspect after reviewing Wal-Mart security video.

Illinois lawmakers will be busy this week, wrapping up their spring legislative session. Although a tentative agreement has been reached on the regulation of high pressure, high volume hydraulic fracturing, the bill has not been called for a vote.  If lawmakers finally approve the legislation, an oil boom is expected to be unleashed across Southern Illinois.

The Wayne County Shrine Club’s annual Golf Tournament is set for this Sunday at the Wayne County Golf Course.  There is still time to sign up for the event.  Lunch will be served starting at 11 a.m. and open to the public. Texas BBQ and all the trimmings will be offered for $8 per person.  All proceeds will go the Wayne County Shrine Club.
