Some area rivers continue to rise in the wake of nearly four inches of rainfall last weekend.  The Wabash at Mount Carmel is now forecast to crest at 24.1 feet by Sunday, more than five feet above flood stage. No significant precipitation is in the forecast for the remainder of the week.

A certified White County Concealed Carry firearms instructor has been formally charged in a deer poaching incident.  45-year-old Gary Maricle faces charges of spotlighting deer, hunting animals from the roadway and two counts of unlawful taking or possession of a deer. He is scheduled for a first appearance in White County Circuit Court on February 6. Illinois Conservation Police made the arrest.

ELMORE, DAMON R17-year-old Damon R. Elmore of Olney has been arrested on charges he burglarized the Orchardville Church on Thanksgiving day, stealing $800 cash from one office and $20 cash from another.  Elmore (pictured) was arrested in Richland County on the Wayne County warrant. Bond in the case has been set at $2,500 cash.

In Hamilton County Circuit Court Monday, a judge found probable cause to bind a Wayne City man over to trial on charges he had unlawful sexual contact with a juvenile female relative.  35-year-old Randy E. Stilley has been charged with criminal sexual assault in both Hamilton and Wayne Counties.  Bond in the Hamilton County case is $7,500 cash – $5,000 in the Wayne County case.

Tanner Garrison is the winner of a Chicago Bears recliner from Rush Appliance in Fairfield in the Fairfield Retail Merchants Men on a Mission promotion.  Jesse Young is the winner of a fully stocked tackle box from Wayne White Propane and Sporting Goods.
