camrondillmanFelony charges have been filed against a young Carmi man accused of driving drunk when his pickup truck ran off the road and overturned east of Burnt Prairie Tuesday morning claiming the life of a Carmi teen.  The driver, 20-year-old Camron D. Gunter (pictured left)  has been formally charged with aggravated drunk driving causing a death, aggravated battery of a peace officer, unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor and delivery of alcohol to a minor.  Killed in the crash was Camron Gunter’s friend, 18-year-old Gregory W. Dillman of Carmi (pictured right). Services for Gregory Dillman are pending at the Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday trash pickup in Fairfield will be running on schedule.  If your trash is normally picked up on Monday or Tuesday – it will not be picked up until next week.

Former Richland County Sheriff Robert E. Foerster died Monday afternoon after his vehicle became stuck in the snow south of Claremont.  Witnesses said Foerster got out of his vehicle and tried to walk to a nearby house for help when he collapsed and died.  At the time of the incident, temperatures were well below zero.  Foerster served as Richland County Sheriff from 1998 – 2006.

Spelling Bee dates for Wayne and Edwards counties have been set.  The Edwards County Bee will be on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The Wayne County Bee will be Monday, Feb. 3.  Both bees will be broadcast live on WFIW –FM.

Fifteen bidders attended the annual Edwards County Tax Sale Monday.  Thirty four real estate and eleven oil parcels sold for over $26,000.

A blood drive has been scheduled today at the Community of Christ Church in Fairfield.  Today’s drive will run from 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.  All blood types are needed at today’s drive.

A boil order has been issued for the Village of Bone Gap.  Residents should boil any water to be used for human consumption. The boil order is in effect until further notice.
