The Fairfield City Council Tuesday night formally approved a land swap between the City of Fairfield and the Fairfield Industrial Trust.  Fairfield traded 20 acres of land it owns south of Fairfield for 20 acres of land the Industrial Trust owns on the west side of town. The land swap will enable the Industrial Trust to engage in further negotiations to bring a new business to Fairfield.  The business in question has not been publicly named.

Alderman David Simpson says he wants to put the Fairfield fireworks show out for bids.  The suggestion came after the Indiana company that has provided the show the past several years informed the city that they were increasing their price 15% for next year for a total cost of $13,800.   Mayor Griswold says a committee will look into the issue.

A fall Farmer’s Market will be held this Saturday at City Hall. The market will run from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and will feature several vendors. The event will be held indoors at City Hall.

New allegations of sexual misconduct have been leveled against Norris City physician Dr. Jogendra S. Chhabra.  Chhabra is now accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with as many as 4 female patients in his office at Norris City.  An Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations hearing on the allegations has been set for this Thursday and Friday in Springfield.

Franklin County Circuit Judge Thomas J. Tedeschi has been elected Chief Judge of the Second Judicial Circuit.  He takes office January 1, 2014.  He will replace Chief Judge Stephen Sawyer of Mount Carmel. His term ends December 31.
