80-year-old former Phillipstown resident, Ira Lee Simmons of Clay City died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at his home. A veteran of the Korean War, he was an oil field worker until he became ill in April of this year.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Simmons of Clay City; three daughters, Nancy Puckett of Carmi, Donna Stanley of Clay City and Diane Gill of Clay City; two sons, Curtis Simmons of Albion and Wendell Simmons of Clay City; three brothers, Charles Simmons of Chicago, Eddie Simmons of California and Donnie Simmons of Macedonia; a sister, Patricia Phillips of Texas; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Services for Ira Lee Simmons will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City with burial in Clay City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City.
Memorials may be made to the Community Southern Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City.
