80-year-old Macedonia resident, Jack Darnell died at 9:05 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center in McLeansboro. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in Germany from 1953 – 1955 as a medic. He was a rural mail carrier and also a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Darnell of Macedonia; three daughters, Barbara Scroggins and Malissa Hopper of McLeansboro and Mary Ann Jamerson of Macedonia; a sister, Jean Wyant of Grand Rapids, MI; a brother, Kenneth Darnell of Macedonia; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and one Godson.
Services for Jack Darnell will be 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with burial in Little Spring Cemetery with graveside military rites provided by the American Legion Post 106 and a Military Honors Team from Marion.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 Saturday evening, Sept 21 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
