77-year-old McLeansboro resident, John E. Hopper died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He had been a bookkeeper, a farmer, hauled water throughout the county, was a dispatcher for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and was a custodian for Ten Mile Baptist Church for 16 years, served as Knights Prairie Township Trustee and had been a Deacon at the Ten Mile Church for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Hopper of McLeansboro; three sons, Gary Hopper and wife Shelly of Warrensburg, MO, Chris Follmer and wife Janese of McLeansboro and Wayne Hopper and wife Kim of McLeansboro; a daughter, Sandra Gholson and husband Sam of Blue Springs, MO; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for John E. Hopper will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with burial in Ten Mile Cemetery at McLeansboro.
Visitation will be 6 – 8 Wednesday evening, Feb. 5 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Memorials may be made to the Ten Mile Food Pantry and will be accepted at the church or the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
