John I. Dozier, 90 of Mill Shoals, died Wednesday February 26, 2014 at St. Marys Hospital in Evansville. He had been a farmer, blacksmith, and operated an implement dealership before working for and retiring from the State of Illinois. A veteran of WW II, he served with the U.S. Army at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He had also served as a school board member in Mill Shoals.
Survivors include his wife, Wave; four sons, Ron and Jackie of Bloomington, IL, Larry and Marti of Phoenix, AZ, John Harlan of Mill Shoals and Ivan and Michele of Ivesdale; three daughters, Audrey and Dan Lemke of Bluford, Anita and Lindy Caldwell of Sims and Mary and Mark Short of Burnt Prairie; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four brothers, Ralph and Betty of Fairfield, Lloyd and Elli of Walawala, WA, Kenneth and Barbara of Bonney Lake, WA and Carroll and Reva of Burnt Prairie, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for John I. Dozier will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 3 at the Mill Shoals Christian Church with burial in Zion Cemetery with military rites performed by the Springerton and Carmi American Legion Posts.
Visitation will be from 2 – 5 Sunday, March 2 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield and one hour before the service at the church.
