upton87-year-old Enfield resident, Joseph Upton died Monday morning, March 10 at his home. He had worked at Babcock & Wilcox in Mount Vernon, Indiana before his retirement.  A U.S. Army veteran of WW II, he was a member of the Springerton American Legion for 68 years, the Carmi VFW, McLeansboro Elks and the Missionary Baptist Church in Enfield.

Survivors include a son, Rick (Debbie) Upton of Cambria; a grandson, Joseph L. (Alicia) Upton of Carterville; a granddaughter, Melissa (Ben) Henson of Midland, TX and two great-grandchildren.

Services for Joseph Upton will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 14 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield with burial in Enfield Cemetery with military rites performed by the Springerton American Legion and Carmi VFW.

Visitation will be 5 – 7 Thursday evening, March 13 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Missionary Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield.
