99-year-old McLeansboro resident, Josephine Waller Bonan, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 28 at her home. She was a librarian having earned a master’s degree from the University of Illinois, and was an integral part of the McLeansboro McCoy Library, serving on the board for over 60 years. She was also a librarian and teacher at the East Side School in McLeansboro for over 20 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Crystal Bonan Spencer of St. Louis, MO; two sons, Frank William Bonan of McLeansboro and Joseph Hunt Bonan of Mt. Vernon, IL; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for Josephine Waller Bonan will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 4 at the First Christian Church in McLeansboro.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday, March 4 until the time of service at the church.
Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the McLeansboro McCoy Library or to Hamilton Memorial Hospital, and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
