Laura May Myers

Harder, sherryLaura May Myers, age 81, of Browns, IL died on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, IN. She began her working career at Mason’s Café in Albion, where she diligently saved her tip money to attend beauty school at Evansville. She later became a licensed hairdresser, owning and operating Laura May’s Beauty Shop for severa l years .    She wrote the “Browns News” for several years for the Albion Journal Newspaper.

She is survived by two sisters;  Helen Jane Johnson of Albion, and L.A. Ferne  Lassen of Red Oak, Iowa.   She is also survived by special nieces and nephews:  Tess (Mike) Lassen-Wortinger  of Hampton, Iowa, Darren (Lila)  Lassen of Red Oak, Iowa, Kelly (Scott) Oakleaf of Elliott, Iowa, Paul (Dana) Johnson of Danville, Illinois, Teresa Johnson of Albion, IL,  five great-nieces and nephews and one great-great niece and one great-great nephew.

Funeral service for Laura May Myers will be  11 AM, Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Ingram Funeral Home, Albion with burial will follow at Bone Gap Cemetery, Bone Gap, Illinois.

Visitation will be held from 9:30AM to 11AM at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.

Memorials may be made to the Browns Christian Church or to the family.
