98-year-old Albion resident, Leo A. Burns died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, July 13 at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel. He was harness race horse trainer. He was honored last year as the oldest winning harness racing driver in the world. He was a member of the Illinois Harness Racing Association and U.S. Trotting Association.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Vavra of Laurel, IA and Ed Burns of Marshalltown, IA; 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Leo A. Burns will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown, IA.
Visitation will be 6 – 8 Wednesday evening, July 17 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion, which is in charge of all the arrangements.
