Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash just east of Salem Friday morning. 74-year-old Rudolf Clark was travelling east on U.S. 50 and slowed to make a left turn. An unknown semi locked up its brakes behind Clark. Clark attempted to make the turn but struck a westbound vehicle driven by 47-year-old Randy Hawkins of Salem. Clark was taken to Salem Township Hospital by ambulance. Hawkins and a passenger in his vehicle, 12-year-old Gracie Hawkins of Salem went to the hospital via private vehicle.
The jury trial for Rodney Black of Eldorado has been pushed back to September 9th. Black faces three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of intentional homicide for the killing of his girlfriend and her unborn child. Black allegedly stabbed Latisha Reidelberger with a knife several times causing her death back in April.
23-year-old Quentin Metje of Mt. Vernon has been charged with four counts of driving under the influence in connection with a wreck on June 27th that killed a 17-year-old Salem man and injured four other Salem residents. Bond has been set at $100,000. Metje is scheduled to make his first appearance in Jefferson County Court on Monday.
A jury trial scheduled to begin Monday in Wayne County Circuit Court has been cancelled. If you are part of jury panel #73 and were called to jury duty on Monday, you may disregard the notice. Wayne County States Attorney David Williams has notified the circuit clerk’s office that the jury trial has been cancelled.
