Mabel L. (Churchwell) Townsend

77-year-old Carmi resident, Mabel L. (Churchwell) Townsend died Thursday, Sept. 19 at Deaconess Hospice Center in Evansville. A homemaker, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carmi and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Lee Townsend of Crossville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Aaron and Demetra Townsend of Effingham, Mark and Debra Duckworth Townsend of San Antonio, TX and Richard and Gailya Townsend of Carmi; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Roetta and Ed Erwin of Carmi; a brother, Bobby Churchwell of McLeansboro; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mabel L. Townsend will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.

There will be no visitation. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery. The Campbell Funeral Home of Carmi is in charge of all the arrangements.
