85-year-old former Cisne resident, Martha Irene (White) Block died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, March 16 at Way- Fair Nursing Home in Fairfield. She had worked in restaurants, had been a phone operator, a nurses aide in Flora and Fairfield, worked in a shoe factory and had been a teacher’s aide in Johnsonville preschool. She was a member of the Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church and had volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her husband, John Howard Block of Fairfield; daughters, Barbara Williams of Fairfield, Ruth Ann (Perry) Kunce of Cisne and Gena Block of Flora; sons, Johnny and Ben Block, both of Baltimore, MD; ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Services for Martha Irene Block will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 19 at the Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church with burial in Cisne Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 – 7 Tuesday evening at the Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, which is in charge of all the arrangements.
