90-year-old Geff resident, Merle Duane Pond, died at 8:50 a.m. Friday, May 17 at his home. He retired from Airtex in 1976 as Group Leader and was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge as an Intelligence Observer. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church and the Cisne American Legion.
Surviving are a daughter, Anita McNeely and husband Richard of Geff; one son, Richard Pond and wife Anita Kay of Fairfield; two sisters, Betty McCord and husband Ralph and Joyce Shreve and husband Lester both of Cisne; one brother-in-law, Donne Hilliard and wife Inez of Fairfield; two granddaughters, two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Merle Duane Pond will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 20 at the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne. Burial will be in Cisne Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne.
Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove Christian Church, and will be accepted at the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne.
