Flora Mitchell
77-year-old former McLeansboro resident, Flora Mitchell of Montgomery, IL, died at 4:31 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL.
Surviving are four sons, John, Larry, Mike and Terry all of Montgomery, IL; two daughters, Lola Krantz of Yorkville, IL and Marg Tryonis of Fairfield; two brothers, Herschel Campbell of McLeansboro and Halbert Campbell of Havanna, IL; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Flora Mitchell will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 21, at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery near McLeansboro.
Visitation will be from noon Saturday, August 21, until the time of service at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Janice A. Reed
62-year-old Fairfield resident, Janice A. Reed died Thursday, August 19 at Way-Fair in Fairfield. She had worked at the Farmer's Store in Fairfield.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Reed of Fairfield; two daughters, Allison Robertson and Angie Gruner, both of Fairfield; a sister, Doris Simpson of Fairfield; a brother, Elmer McDuffee of Fairfield and 5 grandchildren.
Services for Janice A. Reed will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 23 at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 Sunday evening, August 22 at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Richard Eldon Hogg
78-year-old Olney resident, Richard Elden Hogg died at 11:55 p.m. Monday, August 16 at St. Louis University Hospital. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired mechanic working for the Shell Truck Stop.
Survivors include two daughters, Stacey Hunley of Olney and Francine Scott of Rockton, IL; a sister, Bernita Williams of Grand Prairie, TX; three grandchildren an two great-grandchildren.
A private family burial service will be conducted later.
The family will receive guests at the home of Stacey and Tim Hunley at 1809 Sarah Drive in Olney after 5 p.m. Friday, August 20.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society and will be accepted at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, which is in charge of all the arrangements.
Doyle Edward Blake
43-year-old Mt. Carmel, IL resident, Doyle Edward Blake, died Tuesday, August 17, at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, IL. He worked as an electrician at Ameriqual Foods, and was a member of the First Christian Church in Springerton.
Surviving are his wife Karen; his mother, Mary Jo Blake of Carmi; one brother, Daniel of Carmi; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Melhiser of Petersburg, IN, Sandy Weaver of Plainfield, IN and Vonda Friedt of Patoka, IN; his mother and father-in-law, Kathryn and Richard Banks; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Doyle Edward Blake will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 21, at the Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, IL. Burial will be in Friendsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21, until the time of service at the Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, IL.
Daryl E. Young Sr.
71-year-old Flora resident, Daryl E. Young Sr., died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, at Marion VA Medical Center in Marion, IL. He was a truck driver.
Surviving are his wife Linda of Flora; children, Allen Young of Phenix City, AL, Tina Young of Butler, GA, Becky Musgrave of Fairfield, and Raymond Pierson, Dodie Payne and Gayla Karns all of Flora; one brother, Terry of Flora; one sister, Jacqie Johnson of Iuka; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Daryl E. Young Sr. will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 21, at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will be in Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at Butler, GA.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Saturday, August 21, until the time of service at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Harold E. Cross
92-year-old McLeansboro resident, Harold E. Cross died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, August 14 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savanah, GA. A U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, he was a retired newspaper printer for the McLeansboro Times Leader.
Survivors include brothers and sisters, Ellis and Charles Cross of Iowa; Maxine Carr of North Carolina, Georgia Nickerson of Virginia and Shirley Merritt of Iowa; several nieces and nephews also survive including Ronald and Sue Tolley of Hinesville, GA and their children, Lora Peppard, Julia Harris and Rachel Wood; great-great-nieces, Audrey Peppard and Ada Harris.
Services for Harold E. Cross vill be 11 a.m. Friday, August 20 at the Delafield Baptist Church with burial in Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro with military rites performed by the American Legion Post 106.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 Thursday evening, Aug. 19 at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Memorials may be made to the Delafield Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Lois M. Nash
80-year-old Fairfield resident, Lois M. Nash, died at 7:22 p.m. on Sunday, August 15 at her home. She was a homemaker and attended the Wesleyan Nazarene Church of Fairfield.
Survivors include: three daughters, Gaylene Beck of Fairfield, Janine Henry of Tecumseh, MI, and Charyl Neilson of Marion, IA; one brother, Charles Denker of Sacramento, CA; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services for Lois M. Nash will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21 at Cisne Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Clay County Hospice in memory of Lois and accepted at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne.
Chrstine Kay Vest
48-year-old former Fairfield and Johnsonville resident, Christine Kay Vest died Tuesday, August 10 in Spokane, WA.
Local survivors include Andrew, Missy and Molly Harris.
There will be no local services for Christine Kay Vest.
Delores Carlson
94-year-old West Salem resident, Delores Carlson died Sunday evening, August 15th, at 10:38 p.m. at her home. She owned and operated several restaurants in the West Salem area as well as Effingham. She also operated a dress shop in West Salem called "Delaray" and was a member of the Marion Christian Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Charlie Carlson of Albion and Ronnie Carlson of Rockford, IL; one sister, Laura McCurdy of Albion; one brother, Bill Shelby of West Salem; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Delores A. Carlson will be on Wednesday, August 18 at 3:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem with burial in the Macedonia Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 18 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Ingram Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Macedonia Cemetery, Marion Christian Church, or First Christian Church of West Salem.
Marilyn Moore
71-year-old McLeansboro resident, Marilyn Moore, died at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, August 15, at the VNA Hospice Center in Evansville, IN. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Odon, Indiana, and conducted mission work along with her husband with the Southern Baptist North American Mission Board providing volunteer construction work for churches.
Survivors include: her husband, David Moore of McLeansboro; three brothers, Kenneth McGill, Wayne McGill, and Dennis McGill all of McLeansboro; one sister, Carolyn Sturm of McLeansboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Marilyn Moore will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 19 at Blooming Grove Baptist Church in McLeansboro with burial in Blooming Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18 at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Memorials may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Program and will be accepted at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro or the Blooming Grove Baptist Church of McLeansboro.
