Ina L. "Madge" Hoffman

79-year-old Flora resident, Ina L. "Madge" Hoffman died at 6:28 p.m. Monday, August 9 at Flora Rehab & Health Care Center in Flora.

Surviving are a daughter, Madeline Roberts of Bloomington, IL; two sisters, Marion Burgess and Mary Wilson both of Flora; one grandchild, one step-grandchild, two great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Ina L. "Madge" Hoffman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14, at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora. There will be no visitation.

Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

 

Lois Jeane Borah

69-year-old Mt. Vernon resident, Lois Jean Borah died at 7:24 p.m. Monday, August 9 at her home in Mt. Vernon. She had worked at Sears for 13 years.

Survivors include her husband, Perry Verdaine Borah of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Debra Borah of Mt. Vernon; sons Bruce and Leslie Borah, both of Mt. Vernon; sisters, Laura Wynn, Clidella Graves and Rose Dixon, all of California; brothers, John B., Delbert, Walter Ray, Ronald E. and Charles "Hank" Tibbs, all of Illinois, Robert Tibbs of Colorado and Thomas Tibbs of California; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Lois Jean Borah will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 14 at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 Friday evening, August 13 at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.

 

Mary E. Jones

94-year-old Flora resident, Mary E. Jones died Monday, August 9 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include step-children, Jim and Jerry Jones of Xenia; Jack Jones of New Athens, IL, Sharon Smith of Westland, MI, Donna Gross of Lake Havasu, AZ, Joe and Ed Jones, both of Flora; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mary E. Jones will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 12 at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home of Flora, which is in charge of all the arrangements.

 

William "Bill" Finley Corrie

85-year-old William "Bill" Finley Corrie died at 5:10 a.m. Sunday, August 8, at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, IL. He attended the University of Illinois, graduating in 1950, and later was the designer and engineer of the New 9 at the Mt. Carmel Golf Course. He was also a U.S. Navy Veteran, a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Mt. Carmel American Legion #423 and the Eagles 3066, and was a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club of Benton, IL.

Surviving are his wife Alice of Mt. Carmel; two sons, Bryan Corrie and Timothy W. Corrie both of San Antonio, TX; one daughter, Jennifer Corrie of Mt. Carmel, IL; three sisters, Helen Gronning and Dorothy Schafer both of Mt. Carmel and Mary Clark of Sparks, NV; four grandsons and two great-grandchildren, and his beloved little dog "Duffy".

Funeral services for William "Bill" Finley Corrie will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, at the Wabash Presbyterian Church in Orio, IL. The body will be cremated with a private interment of remains at a later date.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, until the time of service at the church.

Ingram Funeral Home in Allendale is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Wabash County Animal Shelter Buddies.

 

Jim Grisham

60-year-old Fairfield resident, Jim Grisham died at 4:47 p.m. Sunday, August 8 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He was a gauger for Bi-Petro for 33 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mona Grisham of Fairfield; a daughter, Jessica Gregory of Fairfield and two grandsons.

Services for Jim Grisham will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 12 at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 - 8 Wednesday evening, August 11 at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Comfort Room and will be accepted at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.

 

Lois E. Thomas

93-year-old Flora resident, Lois E. Thomas died at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, August 8 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham. She had been an LPN at Fairfield Memorial Hospital and had also worked at Spartan Manufacturing.

Survivors include children, LuAnne Pennington of Mishawaka, IN and Connie Gill of Flora; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Services for Lois E. Thomas will be 4 p.m. Sunday,. August 15 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness at 240 Oak Street in Noble, IL with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Orchardville.

There will be no visitation.

Kathleen Stafford

73-year-old former Fairfield resident, Kathleen Stafford of Newburgh, IN died Sunday, August 8 in Newburgh. Her late husband, Roy Stafford was principal at Fairfield Community High School several years ago.

Survivors include her husband, Ted Rabe; a son, Gary Stafford; a daughter, Cheryl Meier; several adopted children and grandchildren also survive.

A visitation for Kathleen Stafford will be held Tuesday, August 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Alexander Newburgh Chapel in Newburgh.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Warrick Humane Society, P.O. Box 82, Newburgh, IN 47629.

 

Carrol King

62-year-old Carrol G. "Smokey" King, formerly of Cape Girardeau, MO and Geff, IL, died Monday, August 2 at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, TN. He graduated from Fairfield Community High School, served two years in the U.S. Air Force as support evacuation during the Vietnam War, and later went into radio engineering where he worked for Withers Broadcasting more than 16 years.

Survivors include his parents, Darrol and Betty King of Geff; his wife Sandra King; a son, Samuel King; three stepdaughters, Rashanda Sanders, Nikki Nall, and Rhonda Dockins; three sisters, Andra Lewis of West Frankfort, IL, Lisa Clifton of Geff, and Linda Gayer of Bone Gap; a brother, Tom King of Geff; a granddaughter and five step-grandchildren also survive.

A celebration of life service for Carrol G. "Smokey" King will be held this Saturday, August 14 at 2 p.m. at VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.

Terrell Broady Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.

 

Madge York

88-year-old former McLeansboro resident, Madge York of Evansville, IN died Sunday, August 8 at Protestant Nursing Home in Evansville. She had managed businesses in Hamilton and Gallatin Counties and had earned a teaching degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

Survivors include her husband, Jim York of Evansville; two sons, Tim York of Cave-In-Rock, IL and John York of Columbus, OH; 6 grandchildrenn and 10 great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation or funeral services for Madge York.

Mrs. York's remains will be cremated per her personal request with a private family burial of ashes at a later date.

The Harre Funeral Home of McLeansboro is in charge of all the arrangements.

 

Janet K. Pritchett

73-year-old Grayville resident, Janet Kathryn Pritchett died Saturday, August 7 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was a retired school teacher and very active in several organizations, including the White County Historical Society, Grayville Community Arts Association, Friendship Quilters Guild, Grayville Lions Club, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, White County Retired Teachers Association and the Illinois Election Board.

Survivors include a son, Bret Pritchett of St. Charles, IL; two daughters, Martha Payne of Naples, FL and Karen Parker of League City, TX; a brother, Kenneth A. Skiles of The Woodlands, TX; a sister, Martha Trotter of LaGrange, KY; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services for Janet Kathryn Pritchett will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 11 at the Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.

Visitation will be from 5 - 7 Tuesday evening, August 10 at the Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville.

Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity and will be accepted at the Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville.
