Lois Marie Winesburgh

64-year-old Elgin resident, Lois Marie Winesburgh died at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, August 1 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, IL. She had been a bookkeeper for DPI Specialty Foods.

Survivors include her mother, Esther Winesburgh of Geff; brothers, Charles Winesburgh of Hebo, OR and Stephen Winesburgh of Wayne City; sisters, Wanda Trentt of Aurora, IL, and Aline Robertson of Geff and a special friend, Janet Nekobar.

Services for Lois Marie Winesburgh will be 10:30 Friday morning, August 6 at the Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City with burial in Thomason Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 Thursday evening, August 5 at the Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City.

 

Donald Willis McCollum, Sr.

72-year-old Fairfield Resident, Donald Willis McCollum, Sr. died at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, August 2nd, at the home of his daughter in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was a welder, in the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict, and was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 8677 in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy McCollum of Fairfield; five daughters, Paula Massey of O'Fallon, IL, Kelly Winston and Rebecca McCollum, both of Belleville, IL, Dawn Windsor of Mobile, AL, and Amy Mann of Mt. Vernon, IL; one son, Donald McCollum, Jr. of Fairfield; four grandchildren; one sister, Pam Smith of Friendswood, TX; three brothers, Harry McCollum and Thomas McCollum, both of O'Fallon, and Kenneth McCollum of Aviston, IL.and several nieces and nephews.

Per his request, the body will be cremated and no formal services will be held. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date by the family.

Memorials may be made to Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home.

 

Flora Mitchell

77-year-old former McLeansboro resident, Flora Mitchell of Montgomery, IL died at 4:31 p.m. Saturday, July 31 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL.

Survivors include sons, John, Larry, Mike and Terry Mitchell, all of Montgomery, IL; daughters, Lola Krantz of Yorkville, IL and Marg Tryonis of Plainfield, IL; brothers, Herschel and Halbert Campbell of McLeansboro; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date under the direction of the Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro.

 

Michael J. Utley

20-year-old Clay City resident, Michael J. Utley died at 11:32 a.m. Saturday, July 31 at Valley West Community Hospital at Sandwich, IL.

Survivors include his parents, Wally and Deanna Utley of Clay City; brothers and sisters, Angela Burkett of Flora, Wes Utley of Strasburg, IL, Allen Utley of Plato, MO, Krystal Weigel of Flora, Matthew Utley of Monticello, IL and Sarah Utley of Clay City.

Private funeral services for Michael J. Utley will be held under the direction of the Frank & Bright Funeral Home of Flora with burial in Riverside Cemetery at Newton, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Clay City Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.

 

Ned P. Cantrell

90-year-old Xenia resident, Ned P. Cantrell, died Saturday afternoon, July 31, at Good Samaritan Village in Moscow, ID.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.

 

Danny L. Hooper

58-year-old Cisne resident, Danny L. Hooper, died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He was a machinist, and a volunteer firefighter for Posey Township.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline Cooksey Hooper of Cisne; one daughter, Amanda Hanes of Hardinsburg, IN; one grandchild; one sister, Darlene Tyler of Fairfield; and five brothers, Verdaine Hooper of Mark Tree, AR, Lester Hooper of Mt. Carmel, IL, Galen Hooper and Melvin Hooper both of Princeton, IL and Jerry Hooper of Iuka.

Funeral services for Danny L. Hooper will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to the family.

 

Gilbert York

81-year-old Mill Shoals resident, Gilbert York died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, July 30 at his home. He had worked in agriculture.

Survivors include his wife, Frances of Mill Shoals; one daughter, Sharon Whitsirt of Carmi; one son, Kevin of Greenwood, IN; two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Delbert of Shawneetown, IL, Bob of Enfield and Bill of Fairfield.

Funeral services for Gilbert York will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 2, at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery with military rites at the graveside.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, August 1, at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to Wesleyan Church of Fairfield or VNA Hospice.

 

Charles Sherman Rusk

Charles Sherman Rusk, 95 of Monroe, Wis., and formerly of Olney died on Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, Wis. A WW II veteran, he owned and operated Rusk & WIlliams Drilling Company in Olney and Rusk and Reed Drilling Company in Clay City.

Survivors include his wife, Wynona, of Monroe, Wis.; a daughter, Tammy Fetterolf, of Monroe, Wis.; and two grandchildren, Chelsea and Tara Fetterolf of Monroe, Wis.; several nieces and nephews, including Phyllis Gill, of Clay City.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010, at the home of Phyllis and Rexford Gill, 951 Big Four Road, Clay City. The Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe, Wis. is in charge of arrangements.

 

Darrell Lee Griffin

75-year-old Browns resident, Darrell Lee Griffin died at 1 a.m. Thursday, July 29 at Wayfair Restorium in Fairfield. A 10 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he had been an over the road truck driver for many years.

Survivors include his wife Sharon of Browns; three sons, Randy of Davenport, IA, Charlie of Sweet Springs, MO and Larry of Parkersburg; two step-sons, Bill Maas of West Salem and Brian Maas of Albion; a daughter, Diann Anderson of Dundas, IL; one step-daughter, Julie Rigg of Mount Carmel; a sister, Betty Nelson of Holmesville, OH; two brothers, Donald and Jerry Griffin, both of St. Charles, MO; 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services for Darrell Lee Griffin will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 1 at Browns Cemetery in Browns with full military honors at the gravesite.

Visitation will be from 1 - 3 Sunday afternoon, August 1 at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion which is in charge of all the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Dr. Dennis Scranton Memorial Cancer Fund and will be accepted at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.

 

James L. "Jim" Deaton

83-year-old Mount Vernon resident, James L. "Jim" Deaton died 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 27 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. A U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, he later owned and operated Deaton Insurance & Real Estate in Mount Vernon.

Survivors include his wife, Mitzie Deaton of Mount Vernon; a son, Bill Deaton of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Sherri wilson of Mount Vernon; a sister, Sandra Jo Herren of Mattoon; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Deaton of Mount Vernon; 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Jim Deaton will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31 at the Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon with burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 Friday evening, July 30 at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.

Memorials may be made to the Logan Street Baptist Church and will be accepted at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
