Pollard and Schmalz Exchange Vows

The intimate wedding of Ashlea Brooke Pollard and Robert Allan Schmalz was held on the beach at the Long Boat Key Club and Resort, Long Boat Key, Florida on February 16, 2013.  Ashlea is the daughter of Jim and Pat Pollard of Fairfield and Bob is the son of Mary Schmalz of Clayton, Missouri and Bob and Lynn Schmalz of Kirkwood, MO.

Ashlea was escorted by her father over a wooden bridge to the beautiful white sand private beachfront where a simple alter was formed by white chiffon draped over wooden pillars and adorned with hot pink roses.

The bride wore a strapless flowing white gown of chiffon over bridal satin with a chiffon bridal train attached by three chiffon rosettes.  The bodice of the gown was centered with an Isenberg brooch which gathered the bodice to make a sweetheart neckline.  The brooch and the matching bracelet were her something borrowed from her aunt, Joan Pollard of Evansville, IN.  Her ensemble was made complete with the diamond earrings, which were a wedding gift from the groom and a bouquet of hot pink roses.

Serving as her sister’s matron of honor was Alisha Schmutzler of Orlando, FL.  Bridesmaids were Trisha Griffith, sister of the bride, Joni Luchesi, cousin of the bride and Lydia Griffith, niece of the bride.  The bridal attendants and the sister of the groom wore navy chiffon dresses with hot pink shawls and matching earrings and necklaces.  They carried bouquets of hot pink roses.  Averi and Amelia Schmutzler, nieces of the bride served as flower girls and wore hot pink chiffon dresses.

The groom was attired in a tailor made navy blue suit with white shirt and hot pink tie.  His best “man” was his sister Jill Schmalz of Washington, DC.  Groomsmen were Jamie Pollard, brother of the bride, Ted Toczylowski, cousin of the groom and junior groomsman Eli Schmutzler, nephew of the bride.  The men and the father of the bride were attired in navy suits, white shirts and hot pink ties and wore hot pink boutonnieres.

The ceremony was performed by the bride’s brother-in-law, Kyle Schmutzler of Orlando, FL with scriptures read by Bill Edwards of Carmi, IL.    Ushers were Will Griffith, Jake and Zak Pollard, nephews of the bride, and Daniel  Alves, who is mentored by Bob in the Big Brother program.  Music for the wedding and the evening meal was provided by a chamber of five string musicians.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests were transported by trolley across the resort compound to the Harborside Clubhouse for cocktails before the sit down dinner and dancing.   The entrance to the Clubhouse was lined with lanterns while tables for the reception were centered with mirrors that held a variety of white flowers and floating candles in tall crystal vases.  The Bride and Groom’s table was adorned with three bouquets of fresh hot pink roses and an accompanying table held the four-tier wedding cake embellished with a large “S” and fresh hot pink roses.  The backs of the white satin reception chairs were tied with hot pink satin sashes.  Before the serving of the meal, Jim Pollard welcomed everyone and thanked guests for traveling to the celebration recognizing one lady that had traveled from Germany for the ceremony.  He also asked everyone to join in the singing of “Happy Birthday” to Joni Luchesi and Ted Johnson.

On Friday evening, the wedding party and out of town guests enjoyed a rehearsal dinner on the reserved patio at the BeachHouse Restaurant.  Cocktails and appetizers were enjoyed and later a buffet meal that included grouper, chicken and beef tenderloin was served.

The newlyweds recently returned from their honeymoon in St. Lucia to their home in Orlando.
