91-year-old Fairfield resident, Robert “Bob” Jones died at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. A U.S. Army veteran of WW II, he had owned and operated Farmers Grocery Store in his early years. Later, he managed Fairfield Lumber Company until his retirement. An avid golfer, he had served as president of the Fairfield Country Club several times.
Survivors include his wife, Onzalee of Fairfield; a daughter, Mary John (Todd) Lehr of Fairfield; a sister, Donna (Maynard) Deischer of Olney; a sister-in-law, Mary (Bob) O’Daniel of Fairfield; a grandson, Adam Robert Lehr of Fort Stewart, GA; a granddaughter, Jona Lehr; a great-grandson, Wyatt Briggs and two nieces, Jacaque O’Daniel of Fairfield and Jill Landgrand of Mt. Vernon.
Services for Bob Jones will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 7 at the First Christian Church in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Anthony Wayne Post 176 American Legion and Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW.
Visitation will be 5 – 7 Thursday evening, March 6 at the First Christian Church in Fairfield.
Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Country Club or the Activity Department of the Skilled Care Unit at Fairfield Memorial Hospital and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield, which is in charge of all the arrangements.
