49-year-old Mt. Carmel, IL resident, Steven G. Rafferty, died Wednesday, March 12 at his home. He worked for the family business, Jim’s Cork & Bottle. He also worked for Champion Laboratories, Mt. Carmel Public Utility for 16 years, J. Wilderman Autoplex, Frontier Community College as an instructor in the Frontier Lineman Program and the Mt. Carmel Golf Course during the summer. He also coached Frontier Community College golf and youth golf in Fairfield and was on the 1981 State Championship Football Team.
Surviving is a son, James. S. Rafferty of Mt. Carmel, IL; one daughter, Shelby L. Rafferty of Evansville, IN; three brothers, Pat of Quincy, IL, Mike and T.O. both of Mt. Carmel, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Steven G. Rafferty will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16 in the chapel of Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at the Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, Il.
