Bettye ScamahornBettye J. Scamahorn, 89, of Crossville, Illinois, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at New Harmony Health Care in New Harmony, Indiana.
Bettye was a member of the Crossville United Methodist Church where she served as a Methodist Lay Speaker among other official capacities. She was a past president of the Raintree Girl Scouts and worked in various oil related positions including Platolene 500 and DiKor. She also worked at First National Bank, Crossville Telephone Company, and Crooked Creek Antiques. Bettye is probably best known from her most recent job as greeter at the Carmi Wal-Mart Store. She enjoyed her family and her group of friends affectionately known as “The Golden Girls”.

Survivors include daughter Donna Whitley of Crossville; son Bill of Morgan, Texas; grandchildren Amanda (Jason) Winter, Chad (Kerri) Whitley, Ashley (Mike) McQuin, and Aaron Scamahorn; great grandchildren Layne Whitley, Baileigh Whitley and Callie Winter, with an additional great grandchild on the way.

Funeral services for Bettye Scamahorn will be 12 noon Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Crossville United Methodist Church with burial in Little Wabash Cemetery near Crossville.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Harmony Health Care Activities Fund and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi, which is in charge of all of the arrangements.
