James “Jim” Barnett

barnettJames “Jim” Barnett, 66 of Albion died Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. Jim’s life work was as a mechanic. He also enjoyed his antique tractors, especially Allis-Chalmers. Jim was a Veteran who served in Vietnam and was Commander of West Salem American Legion McCormick Post #658, and was a member of the Albion VFW. He was an organizer for the Avenue of Flags display on the Edwards County Courthouse square, and worked tirelessly setting up lighting. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Samsville, serving as a Sunday school teacher.

He is survived by his wife; Ruth of Albion, daughter; Kathy Barnett, sons; Steve (Rebekah Lyons) Barnett and Casey Barnett, three sisters; Mary Schwartzlose, Elinor (Harold) Bunnage, Mae (Ron) Brandt, three brothers; Glenn Barnett, Neil (Cheryl) Barnett, George (Margene) Barnett and one grandchild; Kenneth Barnett.

Funeral services for Jim Barnett will be Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 2:00PM at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion with burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery at Samsville.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 6:30-8:30PM at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.

Jim enjoyed dressing casually, so family and friends are welcome to do the same for his visitation and funeral.

Memorials may be made to the family to assist with medical expenses.
