Ernest A. Emory

emery picErnest A. Emory, 82 of Mt. Vernon, IN died Sunday January 24, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital. A veteran of the U.S. Navy who served aboard the USS WASP, he had worked at B & W and retired from B & M Plastics in Mt. Vernon. He was a longtime “Greeter” at the Carmi, IL Wal-Mart and was a member of the band, The Southwinds.

Survivors include his wife, Janice; daughters, Judy Griffin of Carmi and Debbie Lindsey of Evansville; grandchildren, Shaun (Amy) Lindsey, Colton, Stefani and Megan Lindsey and Jennifer York; several great-grandchildren, brothers, Bill (Donna) Emery of Norris City and Robert Cobb of Carmi; sisters, Ilene (Milas) Littrell of Concord and Faye (Richard) Pollard of Carmi. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Ernest A. Emory will be 10 a.m Thursday January 28 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon, IN with burial in Roselawn Cemetery in Henderson, KY.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Owen Dunn Post #5.
