95-year-old Fairfield resident, Herschel Higdon died at 12:02 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1 at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon. He was a farmer and had operated Fairfield Wholesale Grocery. He also retired after 20 years in the Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife Maxine (Matthews) Higdon; a son, Matt Higdon of Hallsville, MO; a sister, Betty June Simpson of Fairfield and one grandchild.
Services for Herschel Higdon will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4 at Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, Feb. 4 at the Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.
