Vicki Jean Stockhowe, 65, of Herald, Illinois, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at her home. Vicki was owner and operator of the former Fins & Feathers pet shop. She enjoyed tropical fish, and her dogs and cats. Her outdoor activities included hunting, fishing, and flower and vegetable gardening. She had an artistic side and, enjoyed painting, pottery, crocheting, and teaching arts and craft classes at Southeastern Illinois College.
Survivors include her husband, John Stockhowe of Herald; brother Dr. David (Joni) Stricklin of Carmi, IL; sister Jessica (Robert) Disbrow of Decatur, IL; brother in law Michael Mayer; nieces and nephew Kylene Stricklin and fiancé Kyle Zoll, Molly (Steve) Burns, Amanda (Ryan) Busch, and Brian Mitchell; special friends Joann Hart and all the rest of her buddies who are known as the “Clowns.” She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. John A. and Anna Louise (Voth) Stricklin; a sister Dana Mayer; and uncle Brian Voth.
Visitation for Vicki Jean Stockhowe will be from 5-7 pm, Monday, March 21, 2016, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. A time of remembrance will be at 7 pm, Monday. Family and friends are encouraged to be prepared to share stories and remembrances of Vicki at that time.
In keeping with Vicki’s wishes, her remains will be cremated.
Memorials may be made to Pets at Risk and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.
