Laura Nelle Shelton, age 93, a resident of Dahlgren, IL passed away at 1:17 pm on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016 at Lavender Ridge in Mt. Vernon, IL. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Dahlgren United Methodist Church and served as their music director/pianist for many years.
Survivors include two daughters: Janet (Joe) Harrison of Bloomington, IL and Linda (Tony) Traylor of Dahlgren, IL; 7 grandchildren: Janel (Mark) Clauss of Bloomington, IL; Jared (Jennifer) Harrison of Bloomington, Jolene (Willis) Galloway of Lake Zurich, IL; Tracy Traylor of Collinsville, IL; Andrew (Deidra) Traylor of Dahlgren, IL; Melissa (Derek) Benbrook of McLeansboro, IL; and Adam Traylor of Dahlgren, 8 great grandchildren: Mara Jane and Jamison Clauss, Jake, Johny, and Jorgi Harrison, Charles Hayes Galloway, and Dylan and Dallas Benbrook, and special nephew Gary and wife Evelyn Shelton of Dahlgren.
Funeral services for Laura Nelle Shelton will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 25 at the Dahlgren United Methodist Church with burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Dahlgren.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. Friday, March 25 until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at the church, or at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren, which is in charge of the arrangements.
