William “Squibb” Sandusky

SANDUSKY68-year-old McLeansboro resident, William “Squibb” Sandusky died Tuesday, May 3 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He had served in the U.S. Army for 28 years, attaining the rank of 1st Sergeant. A member of the National Guard, he served in Company A,B and CSC (Combat Support Company), National Guard Unit 66th Brigade, 130th Infantry, 3rd Battalion.  He worked as a paramedic for the Harre Hamilton County Ambulance Service. A member of the First General Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director and served on the General Baptist Association Council.  Mr. Sandusky was a member of the A.F. & A.M. Walpole Tuscan Lodge, Salvation Army Tree of Lights; Past Athletic Booster Club; Past Cubmaster, Hamilton County EMA Director, was a Paramedic instructor and member of the Road Riders for Jesus Motorcycle Club.

Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Sandusky of McLeansboro; his wife, Bobbie Gail Sandusky of McLeansboro; a son, Will Sandusky and wife Beth; two daughters, Leighanna Browning and Stephanie Chambliss and husband Luke; a brother, Fred Sandusky of McLeansboro; grandchildren, Camron, Creed, Londynn and Maihaleigh Browning, Lane and Morgan Schumm; his father and mother-in-law, Bob and Mary York; brother-in-law, Scott York and wife Krissy and a sister-in-law, Angela Baker and husband Barry.

Funeral services for William “Squibb” Sandusky will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 6 at the First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro with burial at Hopewell Cemetery in McLeansboro with military rites performed by the American Legion Post 106 of McLeansboro and a Military Honor Team from Marion.

Visitation will be 5 – 8 Thursday evening, May 5 at the First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro.

As per Bill’s request – please no flowers.  Memorial contributions may be made to then William Sandusky Grandchildren Trust Fund and will be accepted at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is in charge of all the arrangements.
